Danusha is a social enterprise working with women in Nepal to bring you beautiful, handcrafted jewellery. Many of our products are based on traditional Nepali designs, reworked to suit a wider market. We use a variety of semi-precious stones reflecting the colourful beauty of Nepal and her people. Our jewellery is made in small batches with beads sourced locally in Nepal and is not mass produced, so there are variations across the range, creating a unique, bespoke feel to each piece. We supply necklaces, bracelets, and earrings in a selection of colours, so there’s something for everyone.
But Danusha is about more than beads. We also provide adult literacy lessons, simple education in health and hygiene and a micro-finance scheme, which our workers now manage themselves. This enables them to save and take loans at very small rates of interest.
Danusha works in partnership with Nepal Leprosy Trust to provide training in jewellery making, enabling women to learn new skills and raise their status within their communities. Offering a fair wage and decent working conditions is important to us as we believe in quality and equality, so we’re proud to be members of BAFTS UK. A decision to buy Danusha jewellery has a positive impact on people in Nepal.
