Fair Ground is Wimborne’s hidden treasure, tucked away in the Cornmarket. Established by two local women in 1995, it continues to be a not-for-profit enterprise, with the day to day running carried out by a team of amazing volunteers. The shop seeks out suppliers with shared values and we carefully research products to uphold the highest ethical and environmental standards. Where possible, we sell upcycled, recycled and repurposed items from around the world, which showcase the creativity and resourcefulness of skilled artisans who are using materials which may otherwise be discarded.
We host local community events such as Little Green Prom Dress (preloved, affordable dress hire), free World Book Day costume swaps for local families, and Makers and Shakers craft workshops (gentle craft-based eco-activism), and enjoy being able to share our space with the community.
At the heart of what we do is Fair Trade, and we are passionate about the difference it makes to the lives of people around the world and to the environment. Our presence in the local community gives us the opportunity to highlight the really important link between Fair Trade and Global Sustainability, and we are proud to be continuing the legacy of that first Fairtrade shop in Wimborne almost 30 years ago.
